*Please note that residental addresses are serviced by FedEx Home Delivery. To better service its residental customers, FedEx Home Delivery delivers packages Tuesday-Saturday.
Also note that although we are happy to offer free shipping on all orders over $49, for orders that require multiple shipments because of a publisher backorder that is clearly noted on our website, the customer will be charged a flat rate of $3 to cover part of the a shipping costs for the additional shipment.
**FedEx Express service options only deliver packages on business days. Please note that Saturdays, Sundays and most major holidays are NOT considered business days. If a Saturday, Sunday or holiday falls within your delivery time, you may wish to change your shipping option to ensure that your package arrives when you need it.
What do I need to do to qualify for free shipping?
Orders over $49 automatically qualify for free shipping via FedEx Ground service within the continental United States.
What if you don't have some of the items in my order in stock and need to ship my order in multiple shipments . . . is the shipping still free?
It sure is! We know that your books are important to your studies, so if an order contains items that are currently out of stock (i.e., products that indicate delivery in 3-5 business days) we will send that portion of the order that can be shipped and pick up the full cost for shipping the out of stock item(s) when they arrive in our warehouse. The only exception to this rule is when an order contains a product that is out of stock because of a publisher backorder (see below).
My order qualified for free shipping, but because of a publisher backorder had to be shipped in multiple shipments -- now you're charging me $3 to ship the additional package?
Publishers sometimes offer items for sale that they have not yet printed. To avoid getting stuck paying for free shipping on multiple orders when there is a publisher backorder, our competitors simply do not allow customers to add these items to their cart. This has proved a major hassel for law students who must remember to return and repurchase the book when it ultimately becomes available and who, because of heightened demand for the backordered title, run the risk that the bookstore will run through its supply -- further delaying the student's acquisition of the book. At LawBooksForLess.com we will allow you to pre-order currently backordered titles. If, however, your order that qualifies for free shipping but contains items that are out of stock because of a publisher backorder (i.e., products that we have ordered but indicate that they are scheduled to arrive at some future date) -- and this was clearly indicated at the time you placed your order -- we feel that it is fair to charge a nominal $3 shipping fee to cover some (but not all) of the cost of the subsequent shipment(s) because you ordered the book with the knowledge that it would take multiple shipments to fill.
When will LawBooksForLess.com ship my order?
Unless otherwise noted on the product pages for the
specific items you ordered, all orders placed before 12pm
EST on any business day generally ship from our warehouse
on the same day. Orders placed after
12pm EST on any business day generally will ship on the following
business day. Business days do not include weekends
or holidays.
Can I get a shipping confirmation email and tracking number for my order?
Yes! As soon as your order is packed and made available for FedEx pickup, our warehouse you will send a shipping confirmation email to the email address listed in your Customer Account with details about your package. You should also receive an email with your tracking number directly from FedEx as soon as your package is scanned into the FedEx system. If you cannot locate your tracking number don't worry, simply click on the "track" button next to your order within your Customer Account to display the most recent tracking information from FedEx.
Does LawBooksForLess.com require a signature for delivery on FedEx shipments?
No. Because most of our shipments are sent to residential addresses, LawBooksForLess.com never requires a signature for delivery on FedEx shipments. However, it is FedEx policy that the delivery driver has the discretion whether or not to leave a delivery in an area that the driver deems unsafe for the package. In these situations, the driver will leave a notice of the delivery attempt, as well as the timeframe for the next delivery attempt. You can often simply sign the back of the notice and leave it for the driver if you feel you may not be available to sign for the delivery on the next attempt.
Hey, my tracking number claims that the package was delivered, but I don't have it. What do I do?
Unfortunately, if the shipper has confirmed that delivery was made, you must contact the shipper directly to ascertain the details of the delivery. You may contact FedEx at 1-800-GO-FEDEX (800-463-3339). In many cases, if you live in an apartment complex and you are not home to accept delivery, shippers will sometimes either leave your package with a neighboring apartment or with your apartment manager's office. When tracking your delivered shipment, if an individual is listed as having signed for your delivery, this name can often be helpful to determine where your package was delivered.
My tracking number doesn't seem to be working. What's wrong?
Sometimes our orders leave the warehouse so quickly, FedEx can't keep up! If you just received your shipment confirmation email and your tracking number doesn't seem to be working, the tracking number may not yet be active in the FedEx system. Please try your tracking number again in a few more hours when it should be activated. If you still cannot get your tracking number to work, please contact us at admin@lawbooksforless.com.
What types of shipping options do I have to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands?
FedEx offers Ground and 2-Day Air options to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. UPS 2nd Air shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands incur a shipping surcharge (see below).
What are shipping surcharge, and when do they apply?
1. Shipping surcharges are charged when the Federal Express incurs added costs when shipping to some geographic regions. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands incur a shipping surcharge of $10 (FedEx 2nd Business Day Air) and $12 (FedEx Next Business Day Air). This shipping surcharge is automatically calculated and included in the final order total at checkout.
2. Shipping surcharges can also apply if an item weighs more than 10 lbs. Shipments containing a single item weighing over 10 lbs. incur a shipping surcharge of $10 (FedEx 2nd Business Day Air) and $12 (FedEx Next Business Day Air). This shipping surcharge is automatically calculated and included in the final order total at checkout.
How do I place an order that will ship outside of the United States (International Orders)?
Only orders being shipped within the United States can be placed online at LawBooksForLess.com. Because all international shipping rates are weight-based, you must tell us which specific items you would like to order, so that we can provide you with an accurate quote. To receive an international order shipping quote, you request one using our International Shipping Rate Quote Form. Once we receive this form and calculate your international order shipping quote, we will email this shipping quote information back to you, along with ordering instructions.
